Everyone remembers where they were "on that day".. September 11, 2001.. I was a junior in High School.
I? Was in my 3rd hour math class with Mrs.Kelly. By the time we found out about it, the 2nd plane had already hit the Tower. I honestly had no idea what the heck the WTC was. I always thought of the "trade center" on Mr.Dress-Up when I heard it. Silly, I know.
Anyways,
I just saw the shock and sadness on my teachers & classmates faces. I do remember going to the Media Center to watch the News. I just kept hearing that all airplanes & the bridge from Canada to Detroit were going to be on lockdown. My mom was supposed to be in Canada that day. I was so scared she was going to get stuck over there. (She ended up not going...)
I seriously? Had no clue what was happening. Not until my dad picked me up from school. I asked him what happened for real and if we were under attack. He told me what the WTC was and about the other planes. He was so sad. I cried for days. All of the news coverage? I couldn't stop watching. I just cried.
Today? I cried some more. When my kids are older I will explain to them what happened. I will tell them about the evil we witnessed that day. But more importantly, I will tell them how our Country (THIS COUNTRY!) stood together and over came. I am SO proud to live here and SO thankful for our troops for fighting for this country so I can be FREE!
So? In another 10 years, I will cry some more. BUT, I'll never, ever forget.
God Bless America.
